As a growing and industry leading company, Benenden required a high class, high quality boardroom to serve the board of directors and trustees. In addition the design had to demonstrate value for money. With an already proven track record for providing innovative and cost effective solutions Office Design & Project Services were invited to submit several proposals for consideration.
To establish the brief we liaised directly with the facilities and finance directors. The final design called for a large boardroom
table to seat 22 with integrated audio visual equipment and a compact break out area incorporating refreshment facilities and easy seating to make it a function area. This was all to be set in a simple yet contemporary environment.
Preliminary work involved the relocation of existing office desks into a newly built office area, to vacate space for the new boardroom. confidentiality and quiet were a key component of the design and a new acoustic partition was built from floor to the structural sofitt to enclose the boardroom area. A new ceiling was then installed; to facilitate the ease of use of the plasma TV , this included circular LED lights with a dimming facility operated by a remote control. A new partition was also constructed with a recess to house the plasma TV.
A full height store wall in a high gloss finish was installed to give adequate storage for the area and this incorporated an alcove into which was fitted coffee and water machines. In addition a dishwasher and bin were incorporated below the alcove tp provide a complete facility for preparing drinks and for cleaning up afterwards.
A superior quality carpet tile with linear pattern was used in the boardroom. At the break out end this transitioned into a feature vinyl plank that also had a linear pattern, with a bold curve delineating the two. The large boardroom table was built to our own design and incorporated power and an AV caddy providing a direct link to the TV. Cream leather chairs to the boardroom table and feature tub chairs in the breakout area completed the look.
The completed boardroom design has met with universal approval by the board. It has been appreciated as much for its functionality as its simple aesthetic appeal.
