JLA and Office Design & Project Services have worked together on numerous office projects at their Ripponden offices for over a decade. When they identified the need to refurbish an old warehouse into a new call centre facility, it was natural for them to invite ODAPS to devise a solution. We were appointed to undertake the call centre fit out from feasibility to completion, including Building Regulation and Planning Applications, as well as the design and fit out works including the installation of call centre furniture.

The breif was quite simple; refurbish the old warehouse into a separate call centre, including its own toilet and meeting room facilities and to provide desking and seating for 50 staff. Significant challenges faced ODAPS in fitting out the area to meet current Building regulations. In particular, meeting the thermal insulation properties as stipulated by the Building Regulations was problematical. Not being ones to shirk a challenge, our designers working in tandem with our projects team devised a dry lining system of multiple layers of boards and insulation to achieve the required thermal values and fire protection for compartmentation where required.

Other aspects of the works required breaking out of new openings in the external walls for the installation of aluminium framed windows and escape doors, the provision of heating, ventilation and air conditioniong and the design and formation of a new toilet block. Again the design and specification of these items had to satisfy the Building Regulations.

Once the new call centre design had been agreed and approvals gained, ODAPS undertook the fit out works within an 8 week programme. Works included a full re-wire of the area, including containment, new ceilings and LED lighting, intallation of structured cabling system, dry lining, the building and fitting of the toilet block, the erection of office partitions, floor finishes and full decorations. The finishing part of the project included the supply and installation of office furniture. This included bench desks, clerical chairs, meeting room furniture, storage cabinets and staff lockers.

The office refurbishment was completed to our customary high standards. The client expressed their delight at both the form and function of the new call centre area.
